You didn’t care about the little people that consistently worked the late nights to get the project out of the door.
Dear Adland
I was sucked in by your awards and accolades, you were an ad agency but one that ‘cared’ deeply about their employees.
You soon showed your true colours, yes they were rainbow, they looked pretty, but you lacked substance, you didn’t care about the little people that consistently worked the late nights to get the project out of the door.
An old friend needed a new job, somebody owed him a favour, you decided to give the newbie the boot. They had too many opinions and ideas, they called you out on your mistakes, they were hard work. They needed to go and they were your perfect scapegoat.
Awards aren’t everything. Actually they are pretty meaningless once you’re in. If a company is so obsessed with telling everyone how much they care about their employees and how they’re different, they’re probably not. Most of them are wolves in sheep's clothing. Don’t accept everything at face value and don’t trust a wolf.
I’m now working in a smaller lesser known agency. They don’t have millions of awards for ‘caring’ but they don’t need them. I’m challenged, fulfilled and valued. I don’t need to work until 1am to prove that I’m good enough.
